HunEx-IT: Meeting with Kalman Kovacs, Hungarian Minister of Informatics and Communications |

June 10, 2005 -- During his official visit to the United States, Mr. Kalman Kovacs, Minister of Informatics and Communications, met with the members of the HungarianAmerica Foundation's HunEx-IT group in the Kossuth House. Mr. Kovacs was accompanied by several other leaders of the Ministry. Following short welcoming remarks from Ambassador Andras Simonyi and HAF President Sandor Vegh, the Minister gave an overview of the state of the information society in Hungary, the latest initiatives and achievements of the IT Ministry (IHM), and the agenda of their visit in Washington. His comments sparked a good discussion of IT entrepreneurship, the e-Hungary access points outside the borders, broadband penetration, wireless coverage, and e-government initiatives in Hungary. The event was closed by a reception catered by the Hungarian Embassy.
