Dr. Zoltán Abádi Nagy

Academic experience

Full professor since 1993, University of Debrecen. Research fellowships: University of Leeds (British Council, 1967-68), Duke University, N.C. (American Council of Learned Societies, 1972-73). Visiting professorships (5 academic years): U of Minnesota; U of Oklahoma; U of California, Irvine; Texas Christian University. Editor-series editor for book series "Orbis Litterarum"; editor of Hungarian Journal of English and American Studies. Translator of American novels, drama, short stories into Hungarian. Publications: 9 books (4 monograph studies, a book of interviews and 4 textbooks), 17 book chapters, 25 major critical essays in academic and professional journals, as well as numerous short articles, translations, and so on.

HE management experience

Former Chair of English Department, North American Department; Head of Institute of English and American Studies; Dean of Humanities; Rector-all at Kossuth U, later UD. Served on committees of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. Served on committees of the Hungarian Accreditation Committee. Served on committees of the Higher Education Research Council. Served twice as member and Chair of the Fulbright Board, Hungarian-American Joint Commission. Director, English and American Studies Ph.D. Program, UD. Organizer of national and international conferences. Among them EAAS 1986 (Budapest), ESSE 1997 (Debrecen). Member of various national and international boards (e.g., Maastricht Center for Transatlantic Studies), and boards of trustees.
